On the sunny slopes overlooking Val d'Arly, the village-resort of Crest-Voland Cohennoz bends over backwards to provide the best possible welcome in winter and in summer. These living, but unspoilt villages have existed for centuries and skiing has been part of local life for more than fifty years. Development has been careful to respect local mountain traditions: using wood and stone to build chalets that are no more than three stories high, and the astute layout of the ski runs means most accommodation is at the foot of the slopes.
